I am designing and building a high-speed aerodynamic FPV drone as an independent project, taking it from concept through CAD, fabrication, and flight testing.
Airframe: modeled and 3D-printed a 7-inch airframe with an ogive fuselage, reinforced arms, and an enclosed electronics bay, built around a 120 mph top-speed objective and an 800 g all-up-weight budget.
Propulsion: selected the 6S motors, ESCs, propellers, and battery capacity from manufacturer thrust and efficiency data, sizing the build to a 3.5:1 thrust-to-weight ratio and 3 minutes of endurance through thrust, power, and thermal analysis.
Avionics and test plan: integrating Betaflight, ELRS, GPS, and Blackbox telemetry, with static thrust testing and PID tuning planned against logged vibration, current draw, and motor temperature.
Status: build in progress. CAD, airframe, electronics bay, and flight test data are posted below as each stage completes.
