Mobile Robotic Engineer / Competitor
My Role:
Direct a nonprofit, Perrybotics, dedicated to cultivating engineering passion through competitive robotics. Led and mentored teams of 7–14 high school students as part of a nonprofit initiative to design and build competitive robots for the VEX Robotics Competition, a global event with over 20,000 teams. Directed all aspects of the team, including engineering, timeline management, and financial logistics. Achieved 4 California State Championships(2022-2025).
My work:
Independently designed and built 10+ fully functional mobile robots, I worked on mechanical systems, control algorithms, and design-for-manufacturability. Developed robots from 2D master sketches to full CAD assemblies using Inventor and Onshape. Fabricated components using hand saws, drilling, and Dremel-cut parts, and CNC routing, manual milling, lathing, and laser cutting.
Below are some of my favorite and most award-winning robots, each representing a milestone in my engineering journey.
Designed and built a 13 lb mobile robot for the High Stakes challenge. Each featured a metal chassis, an arm with 3" reach, and a clamp with 2 nm of force. Capable of traveling at 7.1 ft/s and clearing 3" obstacles. Competed in the State Championship eliminations bracket.
Designed and built a 16 lb mobile robot for the Over Under challenge. Each featured a metal chassis, arm with 8" reach, a catapult with an 8.5ft range, and 8" deployable wings for a total 35" front width. Capable of traveling at 7.1 ft/s and clearing 3" obstacles. Robot collapsed to under 6" for endgame conditions. Competed in the State Championship eliminations bracket.
Robotics Educator / Community Outreach
Robotics Education:
As we approach an automated future, we will face labor disruption and rampant unemployment. Robotics education offers a solution by engaging young students through fun competitions and cultivating passion. Perrybotics' mission is to cultivate engineering passion, and one of the ways we do that is through summer camps, volunteering, and mentorship. Annually, Perrybotics mentors middle schools in the DUSD and TUSD regions of SoCal. In the last two years, we’ve mentored over 400 students across Southern California. We’ve also volunteered at local tournament championships as judges, scorers, and refs.
